How about adding your art, heart and soul by hand-painting traditional jootis for your sole? Here’s how you can go about using the entire range of paints that adhere to fabric, to beautify sandals for a grand occasion.
HOW TO PAINT A JOOTI:
Paint the jootis with a base coat of Fevicryl Acrylic black paint. Allow this to dry.
Paint a desired design on the jootis, using colours of your choice from Fevicryl’s range of Pearl and Metallic colours. Allow this to dry. Sketch and paint the outline of the design using colours of your choice from Fevicryl’s range of liquid embroidery come outliners. Allow this to dry.
I have used a Fabric jooti for this project. Fabric jootis are very much washable after painting.
MATERIALS USED:
- Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Black
- Fevicryl Pearl
- Pearl Metallic Kit
- Fevicryl Liquid Embroidery Cones
- Fine Art Brush Sponge
- A pair of jootis

NOTE:
If you happen to use a leather jooti for painting, you can seal the paint by applying a protective coat of varnish. Leather jootis are not washable.
