FAIRY HOUSE JAR

This is the type that fairy tales are made of!! Take any jar or bottle that you have and make a nice Fairy House Jar out of it. For this project, I have used a Plastic Jar. This technique however works very well with large mason jars too!!

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

I would suggest that one can use something that is lying about in the house like maybe a glass jar or plastic jar.

METHOD:

Select a jar which you wish to upcycle. It could be a plastic jar/glass jar. I have used a plastic jar. Make sure that the surface is thoroughly cleaned before working on it.

So we use Shilpkar to upcycle a simple jar into a fairy tale jar. Shilpkar is an epoxy compound which is similar to air dry clay. It comes as two components: The Resin and The Hardener which must be mixed in equal quantities and kneaded well. Mix the resin and hardener to make your shilpkar dough. Once mixed, you have about 20 minutes of working time before the dough hardens. Flatten the Shilpkar evenly.

Use Fevicol A+ to cover the Mason jar with the flattened Shilpkar.

Also Cover the lid of the jar with Shilpkar using Fevicol .

Use a paper knife to cut out windows.

Work on other detailing of the walls and texture for the wooden door using the paper knife.

Make Shilpkar coils which can be stuck onto the jar using Fevicol MR, to give further details such as the door and its knob.

You can further use Shilpkar coils to work on the windows.

Use a Shilpkar coil to add detail to the lid of the jar.

Flatten out small Shilpkar discs and keep these aside for later use.

Check if the lid of the jar fits well and if the jar can be closed.

Paint the walls using Fevicryl Acrylic paint: Burnt Sienna. Allow this to dry.

Using your index finger, Rub Fevicryl Acrylic paints: Yellow Ochre and Flesh Tint onto the walls (over the Burnt Sienna) to get a wall texture as shown in the image.

Paint other details of the door and windows using Fevicryl Acrylic paint: Vandyke Brown.

Use Fevicryl 3D outliners: Green, pink, Orange, Purple and white to work on other details of the plants.

Paint the lid of the jar using Fevicryl Acrylic paint: Crimson and allow it to dry.

Use Fevicol to stick the flattened Shilpkar discs onto the lid of the jar to make it look like a mushroom.

Use Fevicryl Acrylic colors: White and Flesh Tint to paint the Shilpkar detailing.

You can additionally Varnish the Jar.9

This is probably one of the most beautiful projects that I have worked on so far!! I loved making this and I am sure this will be a great challenging and interesting one for those who make this.
